Basic Rules On How To Write A Blog Post
Blogs are everywhere and if you type the word blog into any search engine you would see millions of results. As blogs have increased in popularity many people have deemed them as unreliable sources for information. This is due mainly to the fact that a lot of blogs are created by normal every day people who do not know how to write a blog post.
The question then is how do we go about fixing the unreliable factor? In order to do this all bloggers should follow a natural set of blogging rules. Whilst these are rules that are not in any way set in stone, they are basic rules on how to write a blog post that anyone should follow. Most of your rules should follow the code of ethics guidelines and in applying the rules to your blog there are 5 you should apply when posting on your blog.
Check Your Facts
Ensure that you check your facts before posting anything on your blog. If you do some research on your topic and make sure the information that you have is correct it can save you from posting false information. You will look bad and you will lose visitors to your blog when you post false information.
Be Aware Of Copyright Laws
Never go to another person’s site and simply copy and paste their information into your blog. This is NOT how to write a blog post as it is against copyright laws and can get you into some serious legal issues. Almost everything that is contained on the internet is copyrighted, which many people do not realize. So rather create your own information and avoid any illegal misuse of copyright laws.
Implications Of Your Blog Post
Be sure to think about the implications of what you are posting. Do not post it if your post may cause repercussions against someone later. Be sure to choose all your words carefully so as not to hurt anyone’s feelings.
Ensure that you monitor all the comments that are placed on your blog page. Check your comment settings and put limitations on the type of comments your readers are allowed to leave. By doing this they will not leave a comment that might offend someone or some place and cause harsh feelings because it will be you who will lose the visitors, not them.
Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
It is really important that you provide credit for any resources you use. For example, if you select an article from an article directory to place on your blog be sure to give credit to the author by including the full resource box at the end of the article. If you fail to do this step you will fall foul of rule number 2 of copyright laws and you will be deemed unethical.
Whilst these are just 5 basic rules on how to write a blog post, there are many more so do some research and discover which rules might apply to your site.
